Diglipur – The Untouched Paradise of North Andaman

Tucked away in the northernmost reaches of the Andaman Islands, Diglipur is a scenic, lesser-explored gem that promises a world of untouched beauty and tranquility. Located about 290 kilometers from Port Blair, this remote haven offers a peaceful escape far from the bustle of the popular tourist hubs.

As the administrative headquarters of North Andaman and Diglipur Tehsil, the town is surrounded by lush forests, calm beaches, and breathtaking landscapes. Nature lovers will be delighted by the rich biodiversity here — from rare endemic bird species to saltwater crocodiles and nesting turtles along the shores.

One of Diglipur’s most magical attractions is the Ross and Smith Islands — two stunning islets connected by a natural sandbar that appears and disappears with the tide. Walking across this shimmering stretch of sand, with turquoise waters on either side, is an experience that feels almost otherworldly.

Adventure enthusiasts are drawn to Saddle Peak, the highest point in the Andaman Islands. A trek through dense tropical forests rewards climbers with sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding blue waters and emerald green valleys — a truly unforgettable journey.

Diglipur isn’t just about forests and beaches; it’s also a region rich in agriculture. The twin villages of Ramnagar and Kishorinagar are celebrated for their flourishing orange orchards. Visit during harvest season, and you’ll be greeted by endless groves heavy with vibrant, sun-kissed fruit — a sight that paints the countryside in brilliant shades of orange and green.

For those who crave aquatic adventures, Diglipur offers snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing in crystal-clear waters. Beaches like Kalipur Beach and Lamiya Bay provide the perfect setting to relax, swim, or simply bask in the serenity, far from the tourist crowds.

While accommodation options in Diglipur are limited to cozy guesthouses and rustic forest lodges, the warm hospitality and intimate settings offer an authentic experience. It’s recommended to book your stay and plan transportation in advance, as the region still holds onto its unspoiled, off-the-grid charm.

In every way, Diglipur is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered — a sanctuary for nature lovers, adventurers, and those yearning for the road less traveled.
